Strengthening Our Schools
Strong schools make strong communities, and every child deserves an equitable, high-quality, free public education. To succeed, our public schools need adequate funding, great teachers, relevant and effective instruction, safe facilities, and a school culture that treats young people as valued community members rather than potential criminals. Instruction can’t be narrowly based on standardized testing, as our students need education in the arts, foreign languages, music and science to be successful in a 21st century economy. It is time we invest meaningfully in our traditional public schools, for the sake of our children and the future of our community.
